World War Two had just began, and a nation draft was issued for all non-faceless engines. If they are alive, then they shall fight for their right to live. Sodor was close to disconnecting from the mainland, but they weren't fast enough. WWII delayed that, and that meant Sodor engines were eligible for the draft. After deeming that the other's weren't fit for their demands, they chose the NWR's poor number five.
War time efforts change people, but what happens when they change someone too much? What happens when the ignorant engine that left Sodor doesn't come home the same?

Dear readers, There were many engines on The Fat Controller's railway who weren't written about by Wilbert Audrey. There are several different reasons as to why, from not wanting to be written about to Wilbert having too much on his plate already. (I personally blame the publishers for that last one.) However, one of these engines has finally spoken up about an event not many people look at... the time the NWR was without a shunter, before Percy arrived, and after Thomas left for the Farquhar Branch.
