Oh yeah, I think I forgot to mention, some of us humans are "gifted" as we like to say, in short, we have powers, well most of us do, anyway, powers that only show themselves when we turn 18.
That's why an eighteenth birthday is such a big deal.
Please note, that our powers come in all shapes and sizes. From elemental magic, to mind control, mind reading, time traveling, and even shapeshifting, and many, many, more. Even though some humans don't get powers, it's still better than getting what is known as The Soulmate Gift. What is it? You may be asking yourself. Well...
It's when you can see what your soulmate sees and when you can talk to them mind to mind.
Why is this such a bad thing?
It only appears when one of the pair is in danger or is about to marry or spend their lives with someone other than their soulmate.
So yeah, heartbreak is definitely present in the equation.
