I recorded that message for Billy just before my third round of chemo, when I was starting to see the writing on the wall. It's strange when you have to confront your mortality like that. Everything becomes so much clearer. And I knew I wanted Billy and Daisy to reconnect. Somehow I knew they could be good for each other this time around.

And when against all odds, the tumor shrank, then disappeared altogether, that feeling didn't go away.

I knew, then, what I had to do.
