Educational dismay
By james a. galgano
It has become so easy for aged eyes to surmise.
How those in power and position blatantly despise.
People of color and the children daily taught.
By what little required funding is duly provided
To such disadvantaged schools on any given day
Buildings are left dilapidated needing immediate repair.
Little or no materials and new equipment provided.
Young idealistic teachers are without the tools needed to teach.
Students needing additional support to be successful are left wanting.
Ideology of equity is used to abandon obvious necessities.
Computers provided are from a previous century.
Families are often ignored should they complain wanting more
Like this is a Dickens novel gone awry with obvious dismay
There is a political climate change needing funding interjected.
If hope is to be kept alive more than veiled promises must be injected
These are those most requiring equal opportunity to succeed.
For if not they become but bureaucratic fodder for disparate creed
Ignoring the victims their benign neglect withholding essential assistance
These innocent children demand to have the equal chance they need.
To have a future beyond the surrounding walls now which confine hope
Without such aid how can it be expected these fragile lives will ever cope
Or have the chance granted those of color not without obvious need?
This is the crime our century if these innocent eyes are not given equal opportunity.
