Shadow is your average working class hedgehog, trying his hardest to get the job of his dreams; being a restaurant owner. Once he is finally given the opportunity to buy an old warehouse he had had his eye on since childhood, it is snatched away abruptly by the sellers upon attending a party for his friends engagement.

In this moment of weakness, he is tempted by a deal. A deal from a talking chao of all things - the deal of riches. His side of the deal is broken however when a kiss leads to the unexpected consequence of Shadow turning into a chao himself.

After finding out the talking chao is infact the Prince of Robotropolis, who had come to New Mörleans on tour, the two must work together to return to their human forms whilst trying to escape from Infinite, a street hustler with access to the shadow realm.

returning to their möbian selves isn't their only interest however.
