Catherine Mills is the daughter of Cora Mills and the daughter of Rumpelstiltskin. She is also the half sister of Regina Mills. Growing up Catherine was always ignored and neglected by her mother whose soul focus was on Regina. Regina did everything she could to try and make her feel  loved but Catherine had her breaking point at 15 and ran away. Rumpelstiltskin knowing who she was took her in and provided her with a home of some sort. He taught her how to use magic and they bonded as father and daughter. When Catherine turned 21 she met and fell for Killian Jones aka Captain Hook. Who happened to be her fathers enemy. They dated for awhile till one day Catherine was left absolutely broken hearted and broken inside. Time passed when she turned 25 the curse hurt and for twenty eight years she lived in a fog like state thanks to her sister. Now thanks to Emma Swan and her nephew Henry. She was free and could live her life once again
