Xavier didn't expect that his actions would cause a change in his relationship with Wednesday. He doesn't know how he's supposed to feel about her, but the arrow she took in his stead made him feel guilty. So to make sure they stay in touch while on leave, he gives her a phone so they can check up on each other.
