Within past history, long forgotten, magic reigned free throughout the entirety of Pandora. Its rulers were happy, worked together, and relied heavily on their powers to keep themselves and the rest of the world safe from harm. All was well, and the people were happy...

Later on, someone rose to power. A strong militaristic man began to head toward other monarchies and conquer them for himself until he finally succeeded in conquering the world. However, from many perspectives, he is the savior of the world's people, because he is the one who invented steam-based machines to advance Pandora's society. The machines, while running on steam, also run on another source of power. During those times, magic users were also disappearing from what seemed to be thin air, nearly to their extinction. To this day, no one is entirely sure as to why this is occurring.
Now, the capital of the world is the city of Nexus, home to a militaristic man and the largest and only School of Magic. Even with the title given to the School of Magic, magic users are heavily ridiculed outside the school and are deemed illegal. If one is caught using magic outside the school territories, they will be punished, but in most cases, killed on sight.

The Corruption Within Us

Feel free to click off if any of these make you uncomfortable. ~•~ Something about it was so mysterious about this cave, and I wanted to know more. I entered the cave and saw a red crystal sealed in ice. "Woah." I whispered. The crystal glowed and the ice shattered. I jumped back and fell to the ground, watching as the ice broke completely. My eyes widened and I looked at my hands. "Did I do that?" I asked, but before I could answer, I heard a guard shout for backup as they had heard the ice shattering. I quickly jumped up and stashed the crystal in my pocket before leaving. I crept to the cave the following day, putting the crystal back into the remains of the ice pillar. As I walked away, the crystal fell, causing it to break into a million pieces. I jumped at the sudden noise and stumbled backwards, my eyes widening as a black smog formed around the crystal. "No, no, no, no! Frick." I desperately tried to grab the remains of the crystal, causing one to cut my hand. "Ow! Shit." I whispered, looking at my bleeding hand. "Tch, tch, tch, poor child." A demonic voice said. I looked up and saw that the black smog had two red eyes and a wide, sick smile that was dripping with venom. "I- who are you?" I asked, backing up. "The one who can help you out of here." It said, stretching out a hand. I looked it up and down and before I could answer, its hand plunged into my heart, causing me to scream out in pain.
