REBECCA BAKER IS A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR ── in her late 20s, with an eye for glamour, and a brain seeking more complex challenges budding in the streets of 1950s london. So far, except a localised exposure in a vanity magazine, the young sleuth hasn't had a lot of luck. Until of course, the day arrives when she recieves a letter from raymond harrison, the owner of the giant harrison enterprizes, now settled in his family home in the countryside.

The contents sum up to the following facts: 1. that his life is in danger, and 2. that she must take his case up. the letter comes with a side package of a hefty paycheck, and a request to attend the harrison winery estates launch party as a special guest. There are naturally important questions, as in, why would the formidable business tycoon think that his life was in danger? who is he afraid of? what had he seen? and, of all people, why choose her for investigation?

To have her questions answered, Baker finds herself in the lavish Harrison mansion the very next day, where things aren't exactly the way they seem to be and there are certainly more questions popping up, than just the ones posed by Mr. Harrison's letter.

Rebecaa is clear of one thing, everyone has something to hide. But will she be able to uncover the truths? and save Mr. Harrison before its too late?

What if it came to the starkest of all choices: kill, or else suffer the loss of a loved one? Readers' comments: 'simply the best', 'one of the best books I've read', 'loved it', 'amazing', 'great reading', 'stumped me to the very end' and others Plot: When a pregnant doctor is brutally murdered in her own kitchen, the husband claims to have some weeks earlier received an anonymous and darkly menacing letter. For the small town of Ravensby, it's just the start of a living nightmare - one in which nobody is spared from the murderous cross hairs, and which will drive Detective Inspector Kubič to the edge of his own sanity... Kubič took a deep, preparatory breath, his footsteps slow and leaden as he moved towards the kitchen door. Not for the first time over the years, he found himself wishing he'd chosen an entirely different sort of career. Paper-pushing, something out of doors. Anything at all. He'd always been reasonable enough at woodwork back at school, he recalled. Why hadn't he done that, he thought? Become a cabinet maker or some damn thing. A reluctant hand pushed open the door... "Oh dear Christ." The words escaped his mouth forcefully, involuntarily, like blood gushing from an open wound

Hey there folks, I'm Cody Phillips, welcome to New Orleans. N'awlins is known for many wonderful things, our coffee, music and the ability to throw a damn fine party. We're also known as the city most people believe may be one of the most haunted places in the world. Well, let me tell you this, we have more than our fair share. I know because I can see them. But, listen, don't spread that around. Yeah? It's been a closely guarded family secret my whole life. Not even my best friend knows this about me. See, I use my 'gift' in my work as a homicide detective with NOLA's finest boys in blue. Now, I understand why you might call it cheating, and that's fine. But I always catch the bad guy with the victim telling me everything I need to know and give the family involved closer. So it evens out as far as I can tell. Now just as my life is moving slower than a gator with a full belly, the worst happens. I get the call about a homicide that's hit too close to home. It leaves the girl of my dreams coming home to face tragedy. The moment I see her I find myself reminded of the one secret no one ever knew. Ever since I was eight years old I have felt many different things for Emma O'Neal, and those feelings haven't disappeared with time. Problem is now that she's come home; I find myself fighting not only an unknown assailant out for blood, my partner's misguided beliefs but my own need for the enticing beauty I'm duty sworn to protect. Damn, I just hope I'm able to fight the feelings I have for this woman, and stay focused on the case. Otherwise, I might end up losing something far more precious to me than the honor I've worked so hard for: Emma's life.

Please, do find solace in this as it once again means your life is spared, but for many of this next set of guests, they will be scared. Not only for their lives but scared quite literally. I have enclosed some information on the back of this letter. Follow the rules and no harm will come to you or your staff." ~Delightfully yours, the Killer. The killer has invited eleven guests including themself to stay a few weeks at Dawson Cove in Devonshire, England. The rules are simple. Each week, one person will die and the other guests have to solve the crime of how they were murdered. They will then make their cases and the game will continue. Until there is only one winner and the killer. This may just be the sickest most vile killer yet and it could be any one of them.
