Elias is a simple, shy, yet sassy 21 year old guy living in a small Minnesota town, but dreams of going to Germany. He loves playing tennis, working with the community theater, and art. (He's also gay, but isn't open about it. Only his sister Casey knows).
Duran is a confident, extroverted, yet sensitive 22 year old guy, living in the same town. He works at a local flower shop, but also loves acting in the community theater and playing tennis. (He's also bisexual, and somehow everyone except Elias knows).
Emma is an egotistical, cocky, yet persistent 21 year old girl who lives in the same apartment complex as Elias. She loves being a part of the theater, meddling in Elias's business, and making sure everyone knows about her.
Elias has had a very average life, until pretty recently. It's nothing too bad, but he's finally come to terms with the fact he's gay. Which has been a struggle. But, he's falling for Duran, the cute-yet-bold flower shop manager and theater actor. The problem is, Duran is straight (or so he thinks). He also gets too anxious and shy to ever talk to Duran.
Emma and Elias have known each other since 2nd grade, but recently have been drifting apart. Emma has been... well... weirdly clingy with Elias, in an uncomfortable way. He doesn't know how to tell her to back off a bit.
And at theater rehearsals, Elias sees how Duran seems to smile a bit differently at Emma than to anyone else, and it kinda hurts, even when he tells himself it means nothing.
