Emmy's Wish

Darren and Emmy met as youngsters in a park, drawn to each other by their shared fascination of the other.

Forming a strong, powerful bond that neither of them were old enough to fully understand, they reveled in the innocent enjoyment of the joy and happiness they brought to each other's lives. And when they couldn't see each other, they wrote letters to each other, sharing their thoughts and feelings in that moment, the mundane everyday happenings and the anticipation of a response.

But all that would change, firstly one, then the other would have to move away. Circumstances would mean they lost all contact, but Emmy would never forget that face, and her one wish is to reunite with her long-lost companion once more.

School, college, high education and finally career would mean it would be fifteen years before life brought them into contact once more, but their lives had changed them both so much would they even recognise each other? Had time blunted that young love? Would new love replace what they had lost?

And even if their feelings translated to adult life, would they have the courage to fulfill that wish?
