It is the Twelve Era of Split's long and bloodied history.
War has taken to the lips of the many species which share this magical, fantastical world. The Great Enemy; the otherworldly race of Demons, have their eyes on Split and are preparing for a total annihilation of all living beings.

Enter Navarone; a boy from a relatively unknown fishing family in the Human capital of Hydra. Fleeing from home at a naive young age from the immortal dictatorship that rules the Realm, he finds himself in the largest battle in Split's recent history.
Traumatised, alone, broken... Navarone now faces a life of strive and pain surrounded by likewise broken men and women. Finding an almost happiness in working with others and saving those who cannot save themselves.

Things soon change when the head of a magic school is attacked; the Archmage of Lightendale and most powerful woman on Avavice.
With a battle against magic itself forming, and more questions than answers; Navarone and The Hunters must spread across Split to stop these erstwhile assassins and help any that require it.

All the while Split readies for the unimaginable, and the last living God of this world begins to stir, laughing.

**My debut novel is available for pre-order with all major online retailers from 11/03/2019** This is just the first five chapters, which are also available on my website: www.bmmatsen.com Two days before the start of senior year, Emma Duvall is attacked by creatures that hunt from the shadows. A hidden world that exists within her own, explodes around her as she is faced with menacing creatures of the deep, ugly venomous creatures with voices so beautiful they bring humans to their knees, and a wicked beast with eyes the color of blood. When she touches them, their dark powers flow into her, awakening a hunger in her that had laid dormant for seventeen years. The darkness is seductive when it deals in rage. And rage is exactly what she needs to survive. Not only must she keep her powers a secret, she must also contend with the new boy in school. He is both dangerous and unnaturally handsome, drawing her in like a magnet. What she can't explain is why being close to him causes her physical pain. And those that hunt the monsters of the night-the Giborim-sworn to protect the humans, find that Emma may be just as monstrous. Except the striking, centuries-old, Blaze, who seeks revenge for the mother and sister he lost. Emma will do anything to impress him and earn his trust. Including using herself as bait to ensnare the final piece of Blaze's vengeance. War between the two races is looming on the horizon as the wicked creatures of nightmares seek to enslave humankind. When Emma is thrown in the middle as the ultimate weapon, she must allow herself to be wielded...just long enough to save the world. For when the raging fires of her wrath are unleashed, the world with be painted in the ashes of her enemies.

80 parts Complete Mature

When Emma discovers she can see dead people, she's introduced to a world of shifters, haunted academies, and dark prophecies. Once her life is threatened, she's forced to team up with one of Elmore's elites, Rylan Ryder. But the intense dragon might just be the person she's supposed to be weary of. ________ Emma Richards has a few simple rules to live by for her last year at a new fantastical boarding school. One, do not attract attention. Two, never, ever show interest in the horrifying secrets spilled in the school's gossip columns--'cause yours might be next. Three, stay out of trouble. And four, try to ignore the brooding, six-feet dragon staring daggers at you from across the school's countless corridors. Just one hitch. In Elmore academy, the rules are made to be broken. When a long buried prophecy comes to light and threatens all she and the dragon hold dear, the two unlikely allies would have to stick together, championing through a web of dark secrets, ruthless power struggles and their own forbidden attraction to each other... Trigger warnings: substance abuse, blood and gore, PTSD, mental illness, strong language, explicit scenes.
