'No good deed goes unpunished', as the saying goes. It's a lesson we all learn when an act of kindness leads to our own misery. When it comes to such misery, however, none know this bitter feeling better than Alex Ripley. All it took was one selfless act to tarnish his reputation. One kindness that stole his future, and eventually lead to him meeting his end.
Instead of closing his eyes for a final time, he found himself reincarnated in a new, fantastical world none the worse for wear. There was one small difference, however... Alex was no longer a man, but a woman instead. With this second chance, will the lessons from her last life dictate the path she walks? Or will she discover things about herself and this brave new world she never thought to imagine?

Driven to Distraction
Alex Thompson was due to marry her high school sweet heart Eric Ramirez. Period. That's it. It's about as exciting as her life ever got really. She had a job, a good job but an unconscious reality was that she was bored. Something about Mitch was new and fresh and her soul was just what Alex needed (little did she know). Secrets from the past are brought to the surface. A sad ending to a young lady's life. A realisation that family isn't always blood related. Alcohol isn't a medicine. Violence isn't a key. Hearts were never meant to be broken. Two things to take away: you never know what is going on in someone's head and the most important thing...you never know what happens behind closed doors. A/N just a random story about two people who meet accidentally. Plays with gender norms and very inclusive of LGBTQ (being a member myself). Could be triggering I'm not sure as some identity questions are thrown around. It does include smoking, drinking, some homophobia, profanities, violence and smut. Alex thought he had it all then he got a shot of cold water. Years later he is finally getting his life to where he wants it to be. All except one little complication. He searched the darkness and saw leaning against the brick wall a slumped over figure. he debated then started to walk on not sure it was worth the risk, but the figure stopped groaned and fell. Alex sighed. There was no way he'd be able to walk away now. He went over and carefully rolled the figure over and was surprised to see it was a very young man. Alex couldn't see any wounds but when he searched, he found a large bruise on his side that had broken open and gotten infected. "Looks like you got the raw end of a beating. Better get you to a hospital." a hand shot out and grabbed his wrist. "NO! no hospital. just leave me alone." "No hospital huh? your wound is infected. if you leave it, it could kill you." They send him to Elrich, a world with monsters, demons, and where adventures await. However, his goddess liaison is a bit of an airhead and messed up his reincarnation. What sort of place awaits him in this world full of danger and uncertainty? This world is harsh, not at all the fantasy fluff and harems he'd imagined. Will he be able to keep his sanity with death around every corner? This story has LGBTQ friendly themes. It touches on drug use, child molestation, rape, children committing murder, death sentencing as a form of punishment, and questioning one's sexual identity. There are some harsh themes, since this is meant to be a harsh world. Some themes touch upon the MC directly, the others happen to secondary characters. I try not to go into too graphic of detail and I believe that this story is 16+ friendly. I promise that these themes tie together in the end to make a cohesive whole and are used to provide back story for later developments.Terminé
