It was another day at West Valley High School. But for new student Abigail "Abby" Ruthven (who was also an ethical daywalking vampire), it was different.

As Abigail walked down the hallway, the other students were shooting judgmental looks in her direction; her vampiric hearing picked up every word of what the other students were saying about her. And none of it was exactly nice, either.

"What's she doing here?"

"That freak needs to go home," someone else muttered as Abigail walked down the lines of lockers. Overhearing this, Abby shook her head with a smile, while her eyes glowed yellow for a brief moment before reverting back to their usual azure color.
