For a long time, Elaine had admired Jared from afar. He was everything she dreamed of-athletic, charming, and effortlessly popular. As a star on the basketball team, he was the talk of Harmony High, but even so, the admiration around him never reached the point of obsession. The students respected him, sure, but they weren't as smothering as Elaine was. She, on the other hand, couldn't control her feelings. Every glance he threw her way sent her heart racing. Every compliment, every smile, was like fuel to the fire of her unspoken love.

At first, Jared seemed flattered by her attention. She'd blush every time he noticed her, and she'd try to find ways to be near him-cheering louder at basketball games, joining clubs just so she could share the same space as him. For a while, it felt like the beginning of something. But then, as the weeks passed, Elaine began to notice something different. His glances became colder, and the casual greetings she'd once received turned into awkward silences.

For a while, Jared didn't seem to notice. In fact, he was probably relieved. But then, just as Elaine started to move on, he noticed a shift. She was no longer the girl who followed him everywhere, the girl who wore her heart on her sleeve. She had found something else, something he couldn't understand. He saw her with the new guy-the choir leader. And there was a spark in her eyes that he hadn't seen in a long time.

Suddenly, Jared was hit with a rush of emotions-anger, jealousy, but also something deeper, something like regret. Why hadn't he seen it before? Why had he let her slip away? All this time, she had been right there, loving him, but he hadn't bothered to learn about her. He had purposely swirled her along with him, changing their position. His front was dangerously touching her back. "It's a weak who always run away showing back." He whispered in her ears, his breaths touching her neck. Atharva ran, his heart pounding, the station looming closer. She was just ahead, a shadow against the dimming light. He called out, desperation thick in his voice, but before he could reach her, Ansh stepped in front of him, blocking his path. "Move, Ansh!" Atharva's voice trembled with urgency. She stood there, still, her back to him, but he could see the sorrow in her posture. She turned slightly, her eyes meeting his-full of pain, full of things left unsaid. Then she turned away, heading toward the station. "No, please!" Atharva's voice broke, but Ansh's grip was firm. "Ansh, I messed up. I should've talked to you first, but if my father knew about her, about me and her , he would've-" Ansh's hand shot out, grabbing Atharva by the collar. "He would've ruined her, right? Or is it you you're worried about? Your career, your image?" Ansh's eyes were cold, cutting through Atharva's defenses. Atharva's breath caught. "I know I was selfish, but I love her, Ansh. She's pregnant-I need to tell her I'm here, that I'll leave everything behind for her and the baby." Ansh's face hardened, his grip tightening. "Too late, Atharva. She didn't want the child." The words hit Atharva like a punch to the gut. "No," he whispered, his voice cracking. "She wouldn't..." Ansh's gaze didn't waver. "She did. Now let her go. Let her live, and you do the same." "You dropped this." I heard a husky voice say. I turned around to look at what I dropped and realized it was my schedule. I gasped. Damn, I would have been fucked if I'd lost it. I guess I didn't put it in my bag... I looked up to thank him, but ended up not being able to find my voice. He's really attractive. Drop dead gorgeous attractive. Hot. He has brown hair that is spiked up in a messy way and shiny chocolate brown eyes that are hard not to stare at. His jawline was firm and he is extremely tall compared to my 5'3" height; he seems like he's 6'1". He looks in good shape -- the white shirt he was wearing showed off his broad muscular chest. He wore a leather-mans jacket from the school over the t-shirt, with black denim jeans, and converse. I swallowed. I snapped out of it and took the paper forcing myself to say "thanks." However, he walked away before I even finished. OK... he obviously isn't interested in the 'new girl' like all the other students are. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. Out of all the guys that have hit on me in school today he is the only one that has caught my eye -- bad news is that he didn't even bother. "You know him? I'm surprised the cheer-bitch hasn't threatened you yet." Jessica said, her face showing shock. "Um, no I don't know him... and cheer-bitch?" I frowned confused. "She's his ex-girlfriend, but considering she has such a small brain that is a size of a peanut, she won't leave him alone. I mean like seriously, EX; has she not heard of that quote, 'Thanks for the EXperience, Our time has EXpired, now EXit my life.' She is one clueless bimbo.
