OCD, twitching, nightmare teachers, perverse badgers, murderous nurses, cyanide ice-cream and stand up comedy. Yes. This is a true story.
At age ten I thought I had a brain tumor. already seen as a hypochondriac, I stood no chance of being taken seriously. facing horrific times at school my self esteem was nil. join Me, if you fancy, as I try to find the funny side of my story so far. 
I am about to take you on a journey through the eyes of an obsessive compulsive girl who just so happens to be me. OCD is more often than not, seen as a pretty harmless infliction that causes the person suffering to line their cans of beans up so they all face the same way. They probably check the door is locked a couple more times than is needed. These are indeed some traits of OCD but, there is so much more to it. I have dealt with the the obsessions and compulsions that this illness comes along with. I'm not a doom and gloom merchant and I shall endeavor to keep the pages I share with you here, as light hearted as possible whilst giving a bit of insight into what it's been like living with a totally messed up head on my broad ( I'm six foot and built like a mountain troll) shoulders. Quickly escaping his hold on me before the tension became unbearable, I spun on my heel to face him and slowly backed away towards the exit. "Good luck though." I added mischievously. With a smirk and a devilish glint in his eyes that could even give hell a run for its money, he replied; "I'm not a player though, baby. I'm the gamemaker." ~ ❗️Mature content. Caroline is 16 when she suddenly decides that her perfectly normal and loving home life is absolutely and completely intolerable. Suddenly moving out of home in 1988 is the beginning of a 13 year journey. As the journey continues, the passage of time has no significance. Always with the ability to find the humorous side, each address marks another chapter in Caroline's life and is the backdrop for the people she meets and the events that occur. Accommodation varies from unheated rooms and houses with wheel-less cars jacked-up outside to Regency flats and rural cottages. Transportation means vary from a single use bicycle, to Betsa and the faithful Dwanetta. Flatmates vary from a lovely Brummie and a singing nun to a dying dog, a ginger laminator, a 3 nippled geek and an accidental spell with a local drugs baron. Events vary from harbouring boarding schoolgirls, exercising racehorses, the occasional rave, trading in shampoo and marmite on toast to looking for stolen laundry, going undercover and self-defence with a hockey stick. Jobs vary from not having one to shop work, bartending and au pair through to getting a toe on the corporate ladder. There is infatuation, and love from various sources so there is also disappointment, and breakups by varying means and for various reasons. Education varies from a bit of formal study to a large dollop of the University of Life. The latter being the real reason Caroline left home in the first place - to grow up in her own way through her own experiences with no-one else to blame but herself and the interesting hand that life deals along the way. Caroline moves home 19 times, only to find that the 20th move takes her to the last place she ever expected to be. Back where she started. Things aren't always as they seem...

I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. This is a complete story that is much like life; fast, full of surprises, and not always how we want it to be. This has been a project of mine for over three years. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community.
