I had a theory that male gems were seen as off colours because they were male and the diamonds were female so the got shattered.Most male gems ended up escaping and ended up as crystal gems. While others got shattered not to long after.If you're a a low status like a pearl then you get started but,if you're have a status like a sapphire then you stay alive.
