A girl named May discovers the secrets of the wood. She ends up lonely, lost, and confused. Two reasons: one she is being chased by Taoes along the way and two finds out the domerian is not a jewel. Her dearest friend, or only friend for that matter. Later she meets a girl named Skyler, who she doesn't know if she should trust or kill at her own risk. After all, her best friend died and then her brother chose to become a Taoe, so what next after everything begins to make sense?
