After serving in the military, Stig-Byrgr Runegard accepts an offer to return to his home town of Jórvik, Northumbria, and to work for the local police force's criminal investigations unit. His first case is the murder of a much-loved school teacher but he must navigate the politics of his new position as well as those of his interfering mother, as she seeks re-election and a new girlfriend for her reluctant son. As he investigates the case, more secrets are revealed and the quiet community of Mudderstrøm becomes more and more secretive.All Rights Reserved
