Follow Tanhì and Jake's story as they navigate through life's many obstacles.
"You are too hard on them, Jake. They only want to make us proud." She crouches, placing a hand on his thigh. Jake looks up at her and she sees his eyes watering.
Leaning in to wrap her arms around his shoulders, Jake discards the weapon, letting it fall with a clunk as he buries his face into Tanhì's neck.
"I've had so many vivid nightmares like this and in each one, I lose all of you. I thought we lost them today Tanhì and then when you weren't answering, I- I thought -" She caresses the back of his head, letting him breathe in her scent.
"I understand but they are only children, Nì'eveng. They will make mistakes." Jake pulls back, hands droping to her skimmed knees as he swallows thickly.
"Kiri already took care of them."
"I'm okay with mistakes, baby. Just not ones that'll cost them their lives." She softly hits him on his head, grabbing a cloth to clean off his war paint, wincing when his fingers brush over her injuries.

The baby didn't cry, she just stared at the vast beauty of the deep blue sky. She was as calm as the waves that day. Lau'ri couldn't take his eyes off of her.
