In downtown Saint Petersburg, Florida, teenagers and their young siblings are trying to survive a disease driven apocalypse, which has caused all adults in Florida to become animal like (vicious, predatory, and overall just inhumane) in their behavior. 
 Tomi and Seana, two of the surviving teenagers, have been best friends for as long as then can remember. Both of their parents caught the disease early on and died shortly after, now they are working as a team to just survive, saving other teenagers, and adopting abandoned children as their own, hoping to one day find a cure or escape to the North where the disease has yet to reach.
