A French family is on a regular tourist trip to Chamonix, and on its way it gets into a traffic accident. It happens that in the car there are two twin girls, aged five years, Bella and Lisa. They survive the accident. Unfortunately, Lisa suffers a disfigurement that almost occupies half of her face, while Bella survived with minor injuries, and they become  orphans. The two girls live in an orphanage, and after months, one of them is adopted by a rich, ancient family. Lisa was refused, because no one accepted that a girl with a deformed face will be a part of their family. She would be an ugly addition to any family picture that adorns the wall.
