Before you guess on what you think the lesson of this book is... guess again. Devan Ross and Rachel Winters are anything but average teenagers. Having met in the late 1980's while attending the same junior high school in Jacksonville, Florida, they became close friends and successful entrepreneurs by building one of the largest marijuana distribution networks spreading throughout Jacksonville's many high schools. After various early life-altering encounters with the "darker" side of life, they lose their innocence and find themselves not only existing in this darker world but thriving in it as well. Upon graduating high school, Devan and Rachel embark on different paths of self-discovery. After 8 years of struggling and trying to make it in the "real world" they return to doing what they do best, growing and selling marijuana. But this time on a much grander scale. Follow them over a twenty-year period as they rise to the top of the local marijuana underworld while toppling many of Jacksonville's corrupt social elite along the way. You may think you have read "coming of age" stories before, but you've never read anything like this. Sex, Drugs, Corruption, Blackmail, Revenge, and Love, this book has it all, and with many unexpected outcomes -The American Way.

Katelyn has been in and out of the foster system since her mother died when she was young. After her father gets put in jail again, she gets sent to live with the Thomas family. The Thomas's are a very well-off family with four boys. Their house is usually the main hangout for the boys and their friends. Kate hasn't ever lived with siblings before, let alone this many boys, so it's a big change for her. Daniel is your typical high school football player; he's got the looks, the muscles, talent, and even the overbearing dad who wants him to go pro. Daniel, however, really couldn't care less about a career in football, he loves the game, but it's his dad's dream for him to go pro, not his own. At least not anymore. He spends most of his free time away from his house and hanging out at either the Thomas or the Copperfield house. He can't wait to go off to college with his friends and get away from his dad and the stupid little town he grew up in. How will things change for them over the next year? This will be a series of 4, but the other books will be spin-offs and can be read as stand-alone books. They will, however, be published in chronological order. Full warning, this book is much shorter than I intend on making the spin-offs. I was planning on writing book two as the first in the series but found myself needing more of a prequel to all three other books, and so I chose to write something from their high school years. Bonus points for giving Daniel a love interest that was more than just a name.
