The first thing he said was "What?" 'What' was the right word to describe the strange occurrence up to that moment. Before this, there was nothing and now suddenly there was everything. He had a body, he could feel the grass between his hands. He could hear the sounds of the forest around him. He could see the girl lying beneath him as he loomed over her. 'What' was the right word indeed. He stood in that position above her for a moment, breathing heavily. She was breathing too, her expression panicked yet confused. Slowly he moved off of the girl and laid on his back, looking up to the trees and sky above. They laid there next to each other for a long moment, both catching their breath. It was then that the questions began to hit him. Why was he tired? Why was there a girl beneath him? Who was the girl? Who was he? He began to panic internally. He could not remember anything. Who was he? Who was he? Who- The girl sat up and looked at him. "Are- are you real?" The girl suddenly asked, interrupting his thoughts, "I mean, like a real person?" "Yes." He said, knowing at least that much.

I loved him at fifteen. I thought we'd stand the test of time. He was my forever but maybe I fell too fast or loved him too much. Maybe I came on too strong or maybe I did something wrong. He still left. Turned his back on me without a word. I never thought I'd see him again and to be honest, I didn't want to. I began to hate him even though he would never know it. But then, I did see him again and with him came the secrets that would forever change all of our lives. She was only a recurring dream in my foggy subconscious. A voice. A face. We weren't supposed to dream. We weren't supposed to remember. They said it was impossible and the before would never come into the now. None of the others remember, at least not that I know of. What I do know is that she was my everything, my every waking breath. Now that I've found her I will not be losing her a second time. She will be mine again, no matter what the cost. 18+ due to language and sexual content This is the first book in the Ascent Series.
