The Drowners

Ever since I was a young girl, I've felt like I was drowning. I've felt like a little kid who walked too far into the ocean, only to be pulled away by the tide, not knowing what was happening, not knowing how to stop it, not knowing how to get my head back to the surface.

Ember Cole is not the only one who feels like the world is being swept out from under her. She notices many who seem lost and scared. She can see their hair billowing up with the current. She can see their mouths opening, filling with water, while they cry for help. She can see the fear in their eyes as they try to see through the dark waves that keep pulling them under. She calls them The Drowners.

The Drowners are the giver-upers of the world, and they give up on everything.
