Six grueling months of separation have changed the Batch. Crosshair is done. He's given up trying to fight, feeling as if there's no point in even trying. Omega is fueled. She's ready to come home to her family, no matter the risks. Althea is tired. Tired of losing people, tired of Hunter's overprotective nature, tired of failing. Hunter is desperate. Finding Omega leads the team to dangerous places, and he's terrified of losing the family he has left. Wrecker is worried. He wants nothing more than for his family to be put back together, but with Omega and Crosshair missing, Tech gone, Echo with Rex, and Hunter and Althea's relationship being strained, that proves to be more difficult than he'd like.

The Batch lost Crosshair on a mission shortly after Echo joined. They thought him dead, grieved him. But Crosshair survived, and it's not until after the Empire's formation, after the Batch has walked away, that they find him again.
