Alena had grown up in what most would call a broken household. Her parents had drinking problems. Her father's problems were much more apparent than her mother's, but the both of them made sure to manage to get involved in something much larger than either of them. Their debts had been built up that they both began to gamble. Their solution landed themselves in more debt with much more dangerous people than the government. Being involved in organized crime is something Alena would have never considered in her life, but when James Wesley came to her doorstep, threatening the death of her siblings that she had spent so much effort to keep away from her parent's second life, she had no other choice. Her degree in law lended her a helpful advantage over those who had the same offer with much less expertise. Alena landed herself a job winning court cases for criminals. While the job would usually be well paying, having three quarters of her pay check go towards paying off her parents debts did not allow her such luxuries that would commonly come with the positon. Her life never had a dull moment in her childhood, but the common thought that she could lay low in her adulthood would very soon be proven wrong when she makes friends with some interesting people.

But there's one person who competes with her at every turn-Logan, a brooding and intense law student with exceptional skills and a sharp mind. The two are constant academic rivals, constantly competing for the top spot, and their rivalry has made them dislike each other from the start. However, when a high-profile corruption case surfaces, both Ava and Logan are forced to team up in order to solve it. The case involves uncovering corruption within the legal field, requiring them to dig into sensitive areas and connect various pieces of evidence. This new challenge pushes them to work closely together, forcing them to confront not only the case but also their own personal histories and secrets. Logan, who has been burned by betrayal in the past, keeps his walls high and remains distant from others, especially Ava, who he sees as someone who plays the social game too well. On the other hand, Ava struggles to see Logan as more than just a grumpy, distant competitor who keeps everyone at arm's length. But as they collaborate on the case, Ava begins to uncover Logan's hidden vulnerabilities, and Logan starts to see the real, sincere side of Ava that isn't just about winning or looking good. As the case intensifies, they must decide whether to stay true to their personal beliefs and fight for justice or let their growing feelings for each other undermine everything they've worked for. Their rivalry shifts into something far more complicated-an undeniable attraction that neither of them can easily ignore.
