This is a story about a man named Mark who has a rare genetic disorder called fatal familial insomnia, which causes progressive insomnia leading to hallucinations, dementia, and eventually death. Mark tells his boyfriend, Alex, about his condition and breaks up with him, hoping to spare him from watching him die.
