Piper Kingston has always loved nature, the whole family has, but when her disabled brother Walker gets lost in the Sierra Mountains things start plummeting down hill. Since Walker is unable to speak, eventually whole family looses faith after the rangers come back days later finding no trace of Walker, but Piper is determined to find her brother and sets off herself with only her sleeping bag, lantern, bike, and her trusty dog Buck.
