A month had passed since the whole ordeal with the Shiro clone. The paladins had handled it of course, but not without consequences.
For one, Voltron was hanging on by a thread, and to top it off, they weren't even Voltron anymore. Without Shiro, they were just an incomplete puzzle missing its most important piece. No longer a beacon of hope, but a group of tired teenagers unable to become the legendary defender that the Universe needed.

Unable to form Voltron and crumbling from the inside out, they were in rough position. So how will these dormant paladins of Voltron react to a nearby distress signal that interrupts weeks of radio silence and inaction? And how will they be able to form Voltron again?
And most importantly, how are they going to recover from losing Shiro, the mentor and grounding presence for all the paladins.

Voltron: Rise of the Lion Defenders
For millennia, the Galra Empire has plagued the universe by destroying civilizations and enslaving various races. The only threat to the empire is the legendary "Defender of the Universe" Voltron, a 328-foot tall robot warrior composed of five lion robots, based on their own elements, whose pilots are known as Paladins.
