Tommy has experienced lots of trauma which is no secret to anyone. 

Everything was going great with puffy and her counselling sessions until Tommy discovered she was in the anarchist Syndicate. He couldn't be around someone who brings up so much trauma.
How he betrayed Techno ( Which haunts him every single day and night), How Wilbur went crazy, how Niki and Jack constantly try to kill him not knowing he knows of every single attempt. All of those memories were somehow related to anarchy.

So he pushed everyone away but someone managed to sneak in.
