While on the road, the company of Thorin Oakinshield Comes across Rosemary a young Hobbit being attacked by orcs. They save her from her attackers. Now Bofur gets this feeling that he needs to protect her, especially after she seems attached to him. He comes to realize she can't or won't speak. That she's hiding something. Now he's bit by bit breaking a wall she built up to protect herself.

He was the optimistic one of the Company, the one always joking around, the one singing and dancing on tables to lighten the mood. That was why no one noticed his change of character when he met the joyful Periwinkle, the only female member in the Company.
