The story of the novel occurred, fictitiously, in Algiers (nicknamed The White City), the capital of Algeria. Ramice Taslent, an editor of a trail-blazing scientific magazine, received in Algiers, during an International Bookfair, sciences German journalist Sophia Weize. She came along with her father Gerd Weize, who represented his Publishing House. Ramice and Sophia knew each other by Internet, and then came the opportunity of her Algiers's visit. They fell in love, but something popped in unexpectedly. Ramice narrated to Sophia the harsh moments Algeria had undergone in the 1990s out of terrorism, himself had seen mates fall dead in ambushes, witnessed countless bombs in Algiers and elsewhere, and could never see his wounds healed, as memories were sorrow-ridden. He complained to Sophia about the blind eye western community had turned to then-suffering Algeria, when this martyred country asked for help in counter-terrorism; but to no avail! Ramice, as Sophia became aware of, had a heart rendered by love-bereft stories and lived terror, in his microcosm, but could be zoomed out globally. Meanwhile, Ramice received a death threat by email, to be executed should he not part with the German stunner! All of a sudden, years of throes and blood and embers crowded to his mind. Sophia revealed him that she had loved a man named Yacine Lejeny; she showed him the photo, and he felt pounded! He was, in actuality, his old friend who had flown to Germany to further studies. Therefore, Ramice suspected Yacine of being the source of threat! Corroborated by the fact that Yacine showed up in Algiers...
Five years ago, Gabrielle left Castle Rock to follow her high school sweetheart and the father of her child to college. After he walks out of their lives, Gabrielle finds herself back in her home town with her daughter while she tries to start over.
Enter Nathan, her best friends older brother. He offers Gabrielle and her daughter a place to live until they're back on their feet. And as simple as Gabrielle expects it to be, it's anything but. Especially when Gabrielle realises just how attractive Nathan is and Nathan might realise that Gabrielle is everything is he's ever wanted.
"Stop," Nathan says suddenly, his voice hoarse and loud, startling me. His eyes are dark, dilated and fixed on my mouth. "Just . . . stop."
This is what I'd wanted when I started reading to him, to wind him up and get the upper hand. Now that I have it, I'm not sure this was the best idea because the way he's looking at me, creates a dampness between my legs.
"Why?" I ask, the word comes out a whisper.
He stands up and I have to contain a gasp at the obvious bulge in his slacks.
"Because I'm not hearing that character asking those questions," he stops in front of me, looking down. "I'm hearing you, asking to make me come, and I'm damn near close to letting you."
This is a QB Bad Boy and Me story, but it can be read as a stand alone !
