Juliet is eight years old the first time she experiences a warm house, thanks to her best friend sneaking her in, hiding her from his father. All is well until they're caught by his older brother, Theodore Petrov. Instead of snitching, he brings them food and extra blankets, and Juliet finds herself with a crush. After years of unrequited pining, the Petrov brothers are shaken with the death of their father, and Theo moves away to salvage the corrupt company left behind. Abandoned by the only true family she's ever known, Juliet's forces herself to forget her feelings for Theodore, and is finally able to move on. Five years later, Theodore returns to a now eighteen year old Juliet, and their positions are now flipped, except he doesn't simply have a crush; he's in love.
