People began to notice. It took new friends longer to notice than old, because to newer friends, Tommy was always that clumsy, brittle thing. He was never anything but a ditzy boy who slept and streamed and didn't do much else. It wasn't worrying to new friends because some people are just sickly- frail and scatterbrained. To them, Tommy was just one of those people.
Old friends noticed faster. Tommy, an active teenager, became a trembling creature who didn't leave his room. It was clear to them that something had shifted. He brushed them all off, though, and even to them, he was merely a ditzy boy who slept and streamed and didn't do much else.
