Village destroyed by Viggo and on the run on a moonless night, you land on what you think is deserted island. You couldn't be more wrong. Is there any chance of making it out of this? Will you be able to find friends in the unlikeliest of places? Will the Dragon Hunters win?
This is both a HiccupxReader story and a Hiccstrid story, but Astrid herself doesn't appear until the very end. If you've seen the episode, you'll know what I mean.
Heavily based in the RTTE episode: Stryke Out. This is my first story in over 10 years and my first fanfiction ever. Please enjoy and feel free to leave comments.

A Runaways Resolve, A Dragon Master's Legacy
You have likely seen it all before, Hiccup gets chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare but instead of staying to try and prove to his village dragons aren't the monsters they think they are, he leaves. Abandons the world he knows for a world of possibility, a world where he can be him, be free. What if he is one day discovered by a group of dragon riders and chose to join them as they had adventure after adventure. It would be a good life but of course it would never stay so happy, things would change sometimes for the better sometimes for worse. Old scars would surface, old lives reappear and new faces vanish, how would this affect him. Well shall we find out? I don't own the How To Train Your Dragon franchise of course and this is all done for fun. You know the legal stuff. I also don't own the image, I got it off of google as one could expect. For now the story isn't Mature though this may change in the future as I continue so I will make sure to change that if it becomes necessary, just an early warning just in case I break a guideline.

And what if Astrid lied to protect him? This story starts when the gang 15 during dragon training. Hiccup and Astrid have been going to the cove for about a year to fly Toothless and Stormfly. When Hiccup is chosen to kill the Monstrous Nightmare Astrid helps him run away. Two years later when Hiccup doesn't write back to Astrid and her letters start coming back to her she takes it upon herself to find him. What will happen when it Hiccup finds a new group of friends? Or when Astrid comes upon a new dragon and finds a family to call her own? What happens when a new enemy comes? Hiccup and Astrid's loyalty to their friends and tribes will be tested. Complete!!! Hiccup was always a nuisance to the vikings on Berk. He was viewed as a runt, a shame, and a screw up. That all changed when he became the top of dragon training, and finally gets the chance everyone thought he only dreamed of. To kill a dragon in front of the entire village. Stoick was proud of his son, he had almost lost hope in him. Now, he proved everyone wrong, or so they thought. Hiccup wanted nothing more than to have this chance his entire life! However, that was before he met and bonded with Toothless, a night fury he had shot down weeks ago. Now, he wanted to escape, but not without attempting to convince the vikings that dragons weren't the real threat. He thought his monstrous nightmare match would be the perfect setting for such a feat. When things go sideways, when Toothless saves Hiccup, he has a choice, stay and try one last shot of convincing Berk, or flee with his best friend. He chooses the best option, he flees. Now, he is branded as a trator, a renegade. Stoick practically disowns him and he is never heard from again. five years later, Berk hears mighty tales of a grand hero who rides a night fury. Many call him 'Night Rider', 'Dragon Tamer', and 'Mysterious Rider'. Many doubted that this hero could be their traitorous ex heir to the Berkian leadership. After all, he was described as having a prosthetic leg, very tall, confident, and extremely buffed, while Hiccup was the opposite of all these descriptions. But... why then, has this new hero never visited Berk? And what will happen when he finally dose? Feel free to comment! I will also edit things I want everything to be amazing.
