In a world torn asunder by war between demons and humans, he was a being akin to a god. No, he was as close to a god as a human could ever be. They praised him and cheered his name as he raged across the battlefield in the name of humanity.
At first, it was everything he could have ever wished for - glory, money, women, everything a man could ever want. But over time, he began to question the point of this senseless war and was filled with sorrow and regret as he witnessed the senseless loss of life. They had been fighting for so long that no one truly knew why they were fighting anymore.
During the final battle between the two races, he spotted a figure struggling for life - a figure that he had known since he was a young child who had just learned about love. Why was he even participating in this nonsensical war instead of using his strength to stop it? Why was she here? Wouldn't it have come full circle eventually, fighting the enemy of humanity?
"I should have... Why did I... If only I had another ch-..." These were his final words before passing away alone in his cottage in the mountains, full of regrets and wishing he had done things differently. This would have been the end of his regretful life, had the force that dictates life not given him a chance to make up for his actions. He was brought back to life through the cycle of reincarnation 1000 years later to save the world from otherworldly threats!
