Dedicated to all the little angels of the Connecticut Sandy Cook Elementary School Massacre. Kali is left scarred and confused when her little brother is killed in a school shooting. Kali throws herself into her writing, but it doesn't seem to take the pain away. She knows she could have protected her brother if she had just left a few minutes earlier. Soon, her mother is also taken from her and the social services announces that she is going to have to pack up and move from her home in Colorado, to New Jersey with her Uncle. Kali finds herself torn by the move. She knows she needs to get away, but she doesn't want to leave the place where her and her brother had grown up. But in New Jersey, Kali finds someone. She doesn't want to accept it, but she realizes that he just might be good for her. He just might be able to help her realize that it wasn't her fault, and help her cope with her survivers guilt. *A story meant to share the sadness with readers, and help them realize that sometimes healing comes in the oddest of places.* (tragedy/romance) [SHORT FILM COMING SOON. In which two ex-step-siblings reconnect after just about blowing up their family the first time around... Three years ago, Maddie fell hard for Jacob Isaacs, the smartest boy in her school. The only problem was this: Her dad had quite literally gotten engaged to his mother. The two tried to dampen the flames of their burgeoning attraction for each other but not before they got caught and were the talk of the town for months. After the fall out, Maddie moved away to try and start her life over and not be known as the girl who got caught doing it with her 'brother' at prom. She hasn't seen her family in ages and intends to keep things that way. Jacob, on the other hand, has worked hard to accomplish everything he's ever dreamed of. He's stayed close to home, done exceptionally well at school, and is adored by just about everyone who meets him. There's only one problem: There's a Maddie-shaped hole where his heart used to be. But no matter how hard he tries to reach out and find her, he can't. She won't let him. He let her down and gave up on them when she needed him most. And she's not ready to forgive and forget. But then Maddie's dad passes and she's forced to come home for his funeral. It should be a quick visit. She intends to make it one. But Jacob has other plans. He let his girl slip through his fingers once and he won't let that happen again. So now he has to convince her to give him one more chance. After all, they're not related to each other anymore.

Then there is River Fox the one person who will just not leave. Just because he made a promise to my husband doesn't mean he owes me anything. He infuriates me to no end! I just can't get him out of my mind, and it kills me! "Katrina." He never calls me by my name. It's always princess, stubborn, a pain in his ass. "Look at me." I can't because when you call my name it does things to me, I know it shouldn't! "Please, just stop!" Do. Not. Cry! I can't take the guilt anymore. "Just go. Please!" The first tears fall as the door slams shut. I'm betraying him by wanting his close friend. Even though I try to fight, I can't resist him. I hate it! I hate him, but mostly hate myself for the desire I have for the one man I shouldn't. How did everything get so out of my control? Scarface. Why? Who is he? What does he do? Because at age 4, Harlem Ezra Dakota's parents were slaughtered like animals right in front of him. The blade used to cut his mothers throat accidentally scratched him so deep that it left a scar that would be stuck with him, forever to remind him of his parents tragedy. 17 years later, he made himself promise to avenge the death of his parents. And so he did. He kidnapped his parents killer, brutally tortured them, and lit them on fire. Later he left the country and fled to a foreign island that belonged to his parents in the middle of the Kara Sea within the Russian province. His parents were over the hills wealthy. This wealth caused his parents death and made his childhood a living hell but when he got it handed to him the day he turned 18, he lived very comfortably. 5 years after him and his gang (known as the scar reapers) killed his parents killers and returned to their island, he gets an unknown message about a young boy in a similar situation that he was in so he goes out of his way to go and adopt that boy and have him as an heir to his madness. Through all this though, he was not alone. He had his sister, Ophelia. Who was only a baby at the time of her parents death. She was separated from her brother at the foster home but after he turned 18, he ran to go and adopt her. She would've been the heir but she was too soft, light hearted and very affectionate unlike her brother who was the exact opposite. Later on, after he meets the boy, he meets the boys older brother who would change his life for the better? Or for the worse?

NOTICE: Before the Morning is currently undergoing revisions! A sensitivity reader (someone who goes through your manuscript and assesses representations in your work) identified a number of issues surrounding the Filipino representation in BTM. I'm rewriting with the goal of creating a more authentic and respectful story. I'm sorry for the pain I caused by failing to include accurate Filipino culture and in having written from Nora's point of view.
