The Unknown Mark

Since the beginning of humankind, whenever a person turns 18 years old they get a mark on their wrist. These marks determine rank, status and class. Red is lower class, Blue is middle class and Gold is upper class.

The only people known to have a gold mark are those from the royal family. They are the ones who control everything. They believe that whichever mark you get is where you belong. Either you fit in with your class, or you die. Simple as that.

However, there is a fourth mark that is extremely rare. The colour Black. Individuals in possession of this mark are called "evil" and are said to be a threat if they are not eliminated immediately.

Lauren is from a family of farmers. When her 18th birthday rolls around she expects that she'll get red like her parents or, if she was lucky, blue.
