A lone irva awakens on a mysterious planet, and a dahmak Vaulter discovers a strange portal. Together, they find themselves at the center of a millenia-old mystery that could change the fate of the entire galaxy.

This story is a fanfic of the Spectra series by Matt Lauth. You can check out the original series at https://twitter.com/spectraseries. This story doesn't intersect much with the main series plot, but might include some slight lore spoilers, and might be confusing if you haven't read at least the first book. I'd recommend reading the second book as well if you can get your hands on it.

David is mortified when he finds out she saw him using his alien powers and is terrified he'll be exposed. He doesn't have time to deal with anything or anyone but Quasar. Nevertheless, they end up working together. The more time they spend together, the closer they become. There's nothing like a hunt for a killer to a spark a little intergalactic romance.

Garry, his handler, introduces Xeno to the industrial version of the black box, allowing Xeno's pineal gland access to synthetic sensory perception with the turn of a dial, along with the Noumenol patch, a skin absorbed drug that stabilizes his vital signs so that he doesn't suffer a cardiac arrest. Xeno's initial mission is to test the black box on the field, under Garry's watchful eye, and to locate Trianne, an ex co-worker, ex model, ex pole dancer for the Shoki Pao, gone missing and showing signs of spontaneous human combustion, an emerging side effect of Black Magic, and a public safety hazard. All he has to do is bring Trianne back to Intellegella for treatment. It's that simple . . . according to Garry.

The story takes place in a small town surrounded by forest near the Oregon-California border. Of course it does, after all, the highest concentration of Qi is found in forests where ancient redwoods grow. You might be wondering, what is Qi? In Japan it is called "ki," and in India, "prana"." The ancient Egyptians referred to it as "ka," and the ancient Greeks as "pneuma." In Africa, it's known as "ashe" and in Hawaii as "mana." Qi, Prana, Ki, call it what you will, this energy is the life force itself.
