Y/N L/N, a young and skilled bat Faunus, happens to accidentally get involved with stopping a Dust robbery with the help of Glynda Goodwitch and a girl with silver eyes in a red hood. Due to helping her, they learn about her and even get into Beacon with the help of Ozpin who's impressed with their abilities, but thinks they could use polishing along with a favor he owes Y/N's father. Once attending Beacon, Y/N starts a friendly rivalry with Ruby Rose, who's the girl with the red hood and silver eyes. Y/N soon finds themselves stuck with the soul or conscience of a dead Huntsman, Fern Peintree, who also used to double as a rockerboy back in the day. The duo soon both find themselves wanting to help Ruby, both for very different reasons. Y/N for their developing crush on her while Fern since he wants to make it up to his ex, Summer. However, the duo soon face challenges that neither ever expected to, be it as a Huntsman rockerboy or a prodigy Huntsman/Huntress.
