Theories that are true for the sake of this plot:
-Feitan is a Zoldyck, and he's the brother Kalluto is looking for.
-Kalluto doesn't want to return back to the Zoldyck family, he just was too afraid to escape like Killua did.
-Kalluto wants to be more like Alluka in the hopes that someone will enjoy being around him.

Kalluto observes a close bond between Killua and Alluka, feeling as though he's missing something. Why doesn't he experience this? He joins the troupe when he hears that's where Feitan went, seeking a family member who didn't know him better than he himself. Soon enough, he gains a new motive: smiling. He had done so before, but not in the way he saw Alluka with Killua. He wanted to smile, and even more to make another smile.
