Olive Riva-Bianchi has just moved from Italy to Ohio. She already dislikes it here, it has nothing of the charm from her previous country. She just lost her mother, one of the few sparks in her life and now she might lose her dad too. How could it get any worse?
She joins the Glee Club, hoping it will be like her choral club back in Italy (it isn't) but she feels somehow connected to it. Especially since she makes several friends in the club.
Plus, she meets one Sam Evans and feels drawn to him immediately.
The Club helps her through her loss, heartbreak, and bullying that shes endured, and she finally feels at home in this new place.
But then disaster strikes.
