Also, I realize that modern Irish language is called "Irish," not Gaelic, and is very definitely a separate language from Scots Gaelic. However, from what little I have been able to find in my research, it is likely that circa 900 c.e., the Irish and Albans/Scots (and the few remaining Picts) spoke a version of Old Gaelic that was similar enough to be understood between the two. So when I reference anyone speaking Gaelic (vs Irish), it is with that in mind. Basically - don't come for me if it's all too fantastical. This is fanfic, it's supposed to be fantasy!
