Just as he is about to use the Punjab lasso to protect what little sanctuary he has left, the woman cries out begging for her life, explaining the horrors she faced prior to arriving in the opera house. Having compassion for an individual much like himself, the Phantom sets himself up to fall in love again. Will Maribel reciprocate the Phantom's love?
