When Gai of the Mong Tribe catches strong feelings for his teammate Miyo from the Nyanya Tribe who is accepted to not feel the same way that Gai does, he comes down with the dreaded Hanahaki, a deadly disease caused by unrequited love, where the lungs are filled with flower petals, slowly and brutally blocking oxygen flow. The only cure is for his darling to feel the same way. Gai is faced with a difficult decision. He either has to have the infection of the disease surgically removed and never have feelings for his beloved Miyo again, or confess his feelings to her, in hopes that she feels the same way and rids him of his illness. . . . Hanahaki Disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings (romantic love only; strong friendship is not enough), or when the victim dies. It can be cured through surgical removal, but when the infection is removed, the victim's romantic feelings for their love also disappear. Henry didn't think he'll be coughing up flowers for someone, but after falling in love with someone that he knows will never return his feelings...until one day, he coughed up a flower.
