First-person story, set in 1865, through the eyes of Evelyn Rose, an 18-year-old girl dreaming of a magic-filled life that she can live in the house of her dreams. She sneaks away every day to a beautiful old house to read her favorite fairy tales to take her to another world inside of her head. Her parents find out she hasn't been doing her studies and lock her down even more. Soon her parents move her to a new town and try to force her to marry someone but this new town is not what it seems... Evelyn and her friend Everett uncover dangerous secrets and deal with Evelyn's impending wedding.
