In the end, the most surprising part was how much the government managed to keep from us. In all honesty, it shouldn't be surprising, the government keeping things from the people and all. Maybe it was how fast it happened that made it so surprising. One day it was just a minor virus that can make a few people sick. The next day, the dead rose.

"Only people with weak immune systems should be concerned," they said. Well, they were a bunch of liars.

This is the most basic version of a reader insert. This is just the walking dead, but I added a character in. That character is River, and she's 15. I also aged Carl up to 15 as well so they can be besties, and eventually a couple.

This is the type of fan-fiction I love reading, so I'd thought I'd try it out. This is my first time writing a story, so I'm sure my grammar is not the best. I have no clue how to write dialogue, but I gave it my best shot.

Disclaimer
-I do not own the walking dead. The storyline for the show belongs to the owners and AMC Network. This is merely for my enjoyment. I only own River's dialogue and storyline.

Welcome to season 2! This is a fanfiction of the Walking Dead show ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SNEAK PEEK! "I don't need no nurse to look after me," he snapped at me, angry, and I frowned at him. He turned away from me after looking down "Quit being a baby...it will only take a second Daryl," I told him, moving to stand where I knew he could see me. "What happened?....why are you avoiding me?'' I asked, seeing him turn to look away. "Daryl?" "You were right to want to kill em" Daryl finally spoke up with a whisper. I frowned and felt my breathing quicken with the idea. "He said somethin about... the men messing with some young girls. " He spoke, but I could hear the anger in his voice. "Beat the shit out of em just because of that..." He said and turned away from me. I thought that was it until he just kicked something of his over making a loud bang "son of a bitch" he snapped and sat down and held his head low. I walked over to him and stopped just a foot from him "what he said reminded me of....you..." he said and shook his head "Because of what happened to you...I remember how skiddish you were back then...if I had known what he was doin I would have beat the shit out of him too....I don't want that happening again..." he said and finally looked up to me. I didn't know what else to say. I just looked at him now knowing he cared about me more than he showed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *I DO NOT OWN ANY CHARACTERS FROM THE WALKING DEAD, OR STORYTELLING AND ALL CREDIT GOES TO ORIGINAL WRITERS AND SHOW. "I didn't shoot her because I was 'brave'... I shot her because she was my daughter, and I didn't want her to walk around and be one of those flesh eaters..." I explained to John. "John, I'm not a leader, if anything, you're the leader." I told him. "No, man." John said with a laugh. "You are. Think about it Aaron, think about it." John said before he walked away. It has been 2 weeks into the apocalypse. Things aren't going to be easy for the group as they realize danger is closer than they thought. People are adapting to the new world, but some aren't adapting very well. Will the group be prepared for what's coming for them? Or will everything fall apart before they can even try to stop it?
