This is not a love story.
Kathy is torn between choosing family or her friends. Her siblings are Socs ,and her friend's Greasers. Although her family is wealthy she hasn't gotten her fair share of wealth. Her Older siblings Mika and Daniel have their parents hearts even if they aren't treated as well as they should be. Kathy's parents are abusive and heartless towards her and her siblings but they even know that Kathy gets the worst of it. They live in between the West and south side, meaning that they have the privilege to choose. As her siblings start to drift away and she has no one to cling onto. Kathy hates to open up and will not tell her friends about the problems at home. They know something is wrong but she only hints at signs that she needs help. They might have to take matters into their to their own hands.
