Marguerite Louis Garnier is plenty of things. The former editor in chief of French Vogue, an addict, an orphan, an heiress and oftentimes alone. Her childhood best friend seems to think she's a whore, but still invites her to her wedding nonetheless. In reality, Marguerite is struggling in the aftermath of the death of her father, and stumbling to pick up the pieces of her life and his memory. Now being thrust back into the world of her American cohorts simultaneously.

Kendall Roy is also an addict, but driven by ambition and ultimately plagued by his fear of failure and own father. He's no longer the CEO he was primed to become, and is grappling to find a way to reach the fleeting goal. He's separated from his wife, and watching the lives of everyone else seemingly come together. Specifically his own sister.

Two acquaintances hit one another like a bullet train going too fast.
